Bong rips are my favourite way to consume cannabis.
I hold back a lit’l with my consumption by combustion though.. I include vaping and sublingual oils to achieve the feeling I’m after.
I do this for a few reasons:
- I use cannabis every day
- Combustion is an inefficient way to consume weed. I mean, come on, you’re setting it on fire!
- Thinking about it logically, inhaling ANYTHING that’s on fire, every single day, multiple times a day, for years, will have some sort of an effect on your wet and gooey insides, wouldn’t it? IT’S FREAKIN’ FIRE!!! HOT! IT BURNS TINGS. Isn’t the human body like 70% water or something?
- I believe in harm reduction. I think it’s a happy medium to create a balance between all the different ways you can get cannabis into your body.
I love bong rips and find it so relaxing to smoke a joint… but here’s the thing: when I was smoking joints everyday, I got post nasal drip real bad and kept clearing my throat for what felt like every 10 minutes, EVERY SINGLE DAY! ALL DAY LONG.
This throat-clearing problemo got so bad, I asked the doc at a walk-in clinic to refer me to an ENT (Ear Nose and Throat doctor) to have my insides checked out.
Because the truth is… sometimes I would have to cough up thick spit that had black flecks in it 😲. The doctor said this was just ash particles clinging to the thickened spit… I know, gross… but it was temporary!
LONG STORY SHORT, I cut down on my combustion while I waited to see the ENT.
When I saw the ENT, he put a camera lens down my throat and said it looked normal.
FYI: I have been inhaling combusted plant matter off and on since the early 2000’s, and daily for the last couple years.
Cutting down on my combustion had an effect on me. I know this because when I smoked less joints, the throat clearing reduced by a noticeable difference. And I haven’t coughed up any black particles since!!
I still combust daily, but mostly by bong. And when I smoke joints and start to notice the throat clearing coming back, I just combust less and vape more, levelling it out myself.
I am always experimenting and paying attention to what’s happening with my body, because I believe you gotta know your self, to help your self.
Awareness is key.
